105 - The Engine Room
Until the mid-20th century, Williamsport was a major transfer point between the Reading Railroad, the Pennsylvania Railroad, and New York Central Railroad. Direct passenger services were once provided to many eastern cities, including New York City, Buffalo, Harrisburg, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.
From the early transporting trains of the lumber era that dominated the tracks at the turn of the century to the Freedom Train making its way through Williamsport on November 14, 1947, “The Engine Room” proudly displays a few of the old locomotives that once produced that familiar clickety-clack as their wheels passed through the Susquehanna Valley.
“The Engine Room” also features one of the building's delicately-ornate vaults that kept safe the treasures of the Old City Hall prior to 1979. It is now utilized as a closet for our guests and is as decorative as it is functional.
Our traditional rooms, with their large windows and soft colors, provide a very comfortable atmosphere. Private toilet/shower rooms are brightly lit as well, and the original charm and character of this old city hall adds to the beauty of each room.
Like the HULK Rooms, the history of Williamsport is proudly on display in our traditional rooms and suites, with some pictures dating back to the late 1800s. The lovingly-restored photographs of our hotel, including a few floor-to-ceiling applications, allow each visitor a chance to stroll through our city's rich history.
Whether every visit brings our guest back to a favorite room, or sparks the curiosity to see what is in the next room, we are sure that each visit will be a historical one.
In this room: Hair dryer, iron/ironing board, Keurig machine, mini refrigerator. A comfortable, common lobby with vending machine, ice maker, microwave and Keurig machine can also be found on the THIRD FLOOR, off the elevator to the left.
