In 1799, the city’s first post office opened at the corner of Third and State Streets in what is now downtown, and was later converted to a saloon. Built between 1888 and 1891, the current City Hall on West Fourth was designed by the “Office of Supervising Architect” under the direction of William A. Freret and served as the post office until it moved to its current home on Reach Road in 1979. “The Mail Room” honors the men and women of the United States Postal Service that will let “neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night” keep them from their “appointed rounds.”
“The Mail Room” also features an antique filing cabinet from the Old City Hall that we proudly put on display. This spacious room has a counter and stools, great for enjoying your morning coffee while watching the news. Both the bedroom and the bath have plenty of light pouring through the large, arched windows that make this room so grandiose!
Our traditional rooms, with their large windows and soft colors, provide a very comfortable atmosphere. Private toilet/shower rooms are brightly lit as well, and the original charm and character of this old city hall adds to the beauty of each room.
Like the HULK Rooms, the history of Williamsport is proudly on display in our traditional rooms and suites, with some pictures dating back to the late 1800s. The lovingly-restored photographs of our hotel, including a few floor-to-ceiling applications, allow each visitor a chance to stroll through our city's rich history.
Whether every visit brings our guest back to a favorite room, or sparks the curiosity to see what is in the next room, we are sure that each visit will be a historical one.
In this room: Hair dryer, iron/ironing board, Keurig machine, mini refrigerator. A comfortable, common lobby with vending machine, ice maker, microwave and Keurig machine can also be found on the THIRD FLOOR, off the elevator to the left.
