Like most cities, Williamsport has seen its share of fires, although none has been as devastating as the “Terrible Conflagration” of August 20, 1871. This “Great Fire” started in a stable owned by C.M. Baker on what was then called Black Horse Alley (now East Church Street). The images in Suite 202 of such fires as the "Weightman Block Fire," the 1934 "Prior & Sallada Fire," and the 1897 Second Presbyterian Church Fire" may spark our memories, but it is the courageous fighters that we honor here.
Suite 202 is dedicated to the brave men and women of the Williamsport Bureau of Fire who have served as the only career fire department in Lycoming County since they were organized in 1874.
The "Fires & Fighters Suite" is next door to "The Horse & Carriage Room." These two rooms not only share stories of stables and fires, they share a cozy entrance/reading area, as well.
Our traditional rooms, with their large windows and soft colors, provide a very comfortable atmosphere. Private toilet/shower rooms are brightly lit as well, and the original charm and character of this old city hall adds to the beauty of each room.
The Fires & Fighters Suite (Suite 202) has some wonderful bonus features, including a separate area with a pull-out QUEEN sleeper sofa, ideal for a family traveling with children and/or guests. The guest space is conveniently equipped with a sink, Keurig machine, microwave, and mini fridge.
The roomy master bedroom has two QUEEN beds, but boasts a beautifully unique, open space with a ball & clawfoot jacuzzi tub — perfect to pamper a weary traveler or two.
In addition to the free-standing tub that adorns the main bedroom, a large, private bathroom features a rain shower head and specially-crafted sink basin.
Like the HULK Rooms, the history of Williamsport is proudly on display in our traditional rooms and suites, with some pictures dating back to the late 1800s. The lovingly-restored photographs of our hotel, including a few floor-to-ceiling applications, allow each visitor a chance to stroll through our city's rich history.
Whether every visit brings our guest back to a favorite room, or sparks the curiosity to see what is in the next room, we are sure that each visit will be a historical one.
In this Suite: Hair dryer, iron/ironing board, Keurig machine, mini refrigerator. A comfortable, common lobby with vending machine, ice maker, microwave and Keurig machine can also be found on the THIRD FLOOR, off the elevator to the left.
