"Death makes no conquest of these conquerors, for now they live in fame, though not in life." The Grand Army of the Republic answered with their blood when the Republic called. We want to honor these heroic dead, as well as the veterans of all wars and the Allied Orders of the G.A.R., who initially dedicated our Civil War bugler over 120 years ago.

This fraternal organization included veterans of the Union Army (U.S. Army), Union Navy (U.S. Navy), Marines, and the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service who served in the American Civil War for the Northern/Federal forces. Founded in 1866, the G.A.R. dissolved nine decades later at the death of its last member, Albert Woolson. Its peak membership, at more than 490,000, was just before the Old City Hall was built in 1893. This was a high point of various Civil War monument dedications, including our beloved Trumpeter that resides here at City Hall Grand Hotel.

Our traditional rooms, with their large windows and soft colors, provide a very comfortable atmosphere. Private toilet/shower rooms are brightly lit as well, and the original charm and character of this old city hall add to the beauty of each room.
