  • More Information

Like most cities, Williamsport has seen its share of fires, although none has been as devastating as the “Terrible Conflagration” of August 20, 1871. This “Great Fire” started in a stable owned by C.M. Baker on what was then called Black Horse Alley (now East Church Street). The images in Suite 202 of such fires as the "Weightman Block Fire," the 1934 "Prior & Sallada Fire," and the 1897 Second Presbyterian Church Fire" may spark our memories, but it is the courageous fighters that we honor here.

Suite 202 is dedicated to the brave men and women of the Williamsport Bureau of Fire who have served as the only career fire department in Lycoming County since they were organized in 1874.

The "Fires & Fighters Suite" is next door to "The Horse & Carriage Room." These two rooms not only share stories of stables and fires, they share a cozy entrance/reading area, as well.

Our traditional rooms, with their large windows and soft colors, provide a very comfortable atmosphere. Private toilet/shower rooms are brightly lit as well, and the original charm and character of this old city hall adds to the beauty of each room.

The roomy bedroom has two QUEEN beds, but boasts a beautifully unique, open space with a ball & clawfoot jet tub — perfect to pamper a weary traveler or two.  In addition to the free-standing tub that adorns the main bedroom, a large, private bathroom features a rain shower head and specially-crafted sink basin.  A separate area with a small futon will help to accommodate a family with small children.
